Information regarding SUSD Kindergarten at Anasazi:
Goals and Objectives: Our goal is to provide a high quality program in a safe, fun and academically challenging environment provided by our certified teaching staff. We promote high self-esteem and excellent developmental, socialization and academic skills.
Program: The SUSD Kindergarten programs combines academic lessons with enrichment activities and guided developmental activities aligned to Arizona State Standards. The curriculum is child-centered, developmentally appropriate and individualized to meet the needs, interests and abilities of each child. The daily schedule includes individual, small group and large group activities. The children participate in a variety of learning/play experiences, including shared reading and writing, singing, drawing, computers, phonemic awareness activities, phonics instruction and mathematics. Teachers and parents meet regularly to discuss student progress. Anasazi has 5 certified kindergarten teachers who provide an outstanding educational experience for their students. We welcome you to consider our school and the Anasazi kindergarten for your kindergartener.
Children who are 5 years old prior to September 1st may be enrolled for kindergarten. Scottsdale Schools has also given serious consideration to “kindergarten ready” 4 year old children who will turn 5 by December 31st. Because of potential changes in funding due to state funding restructuring, all requests for early admissions to SUSD are on hold.
In the event that funding of pre-five year olds for kindergarten is re-instated by AZ Dept. of Ed, an early entrance screening would be completed and if successfully passed early age enrollment would be considered. Please contact the school office for further information at 480-484-7300. The registration for early entrance screening is coordinated by the Community Schools Dept. at 484-6186.
We are already taking registrations for the new school year. Questions may be directed to the school office at 480-484-7300 Ext. 0.
