ANASAZI NEWS

  • Over 700 students attend Anasazi Elementary School.

  • Sammy the Scorpion says: Thank you teachers for working so hard during the summer and during the school year to create and provide great learning opportunities.

  • Students in grades 2-5 have the opportunity to participate in Accelerated Reader (Ren. Place) each year. A big thank you to the Anasazi PTO for assisting with the funding to maintain the program. Mrs. Grant and Mrs. Cooper have worked very hard to have the additional books, tests, and data base ready for the students. Sammy says: THANK YOU!

  • Did you know that Anasazi has a recycling program? Mrs. Treat is our school coordinator and has organized students and staff to be less wasteful and more conservative as paper and plastic consumers. The mauve recycling bins used throughout Scottsdale are also used throughout the campus. The recycling crew put the bins in/out for city pick up each week and also do public service announcements throughout the year on Anasazi TV 11. Classrooms also have recycling bins or boxes in their classrooms and contribute to the recycling efforts on a daily basis. Sammy says: Keep the world beautiful and conserve our resources.

  • Sammy the Scorpion is flying high this year helping students to do their very best!

  • Sammy Says: “Be on Time” and Sammy Says: “Be at School”. Students can’t learn if they are not here. Please have your child here on time and ready to learn each school day. Bell to Bell Learning is cool!

  • The Anasazi TV Studio is alive and well this year. From learning about important facts to fun trivia the entire TV 11 cast provides a fun start to the Anasazi school day. We are very proud of the great work that Mrs. Cathy Constantinescu and her crew and volunteers do each and every day! Sammy is also in the studio regularly to share important things with the students and staff!

  • The next time that you are on campus check out which street your favorite classroom is on. Each of the wings of the campus is named in honor of one of our life skills. Sammy wants all of the students to learn about and apply the life skills both at school and at home!

  • Ms. Whitten and the Anasazi Student Council are busy with school and community projects.  Please support them as they work to better our school and our neighborhoods.

  • Anasazi is a Block Watch School. Look out for the school as you make trips in the neighborhood during the evenings and weekends. Sammy wants to keep the school safe and clean including the playgrounds and the buildings.

  • The Anasazi Pre-School Program is housed here. This is a 4 – year – olds program coordinated through Community Schools.  For more information see the Current Events page!

  • Anasazi has after school care available for families. If you need after school for your school aged children be sure to contact Community Schools. Contact Community Schools at (480) 484-6186.

  • Sammy says: "Anasazi students are really cool."

  • We all say: "Thank you Anasazi PTO for all you do each and every day

  • Announcements:

Congratulations to teachers Stephanie Janikis and Becky Swann for successfully writing an APS/Suns environmental grant for supporting our outdoor learning center project.  The outdoor learning center is taking shape as a desert tortoise living habitat.

Thank you to our PTO for working with a national business partner and parent to bring 38 new flatbed printer scanners to our classrooms.

We thank the PTO on their capital campaign to raise funds to purchase interactive whiteboards for our classrooms.  Please support their fundraising efforts as they prepare to add these fantastic teaching tools to the school for our teacher to utilize.

Thank you to parent, Derrick Roberts for assisting the school with the recent enhancement of our TV studio.  New wiring for microphones, flat panel monitors and a pier system for lighting and projection were added to the studio with his assistance.  Special thanks to resident artist and teacher, Jami Hinkhouse who created a spectacular mural for the new background in the studio.
